The townspeople, honoured by this visit, constructed Yamen Property (now Yamen Hostel), so that the emperor would have somewhere suitable to stay. The property was built in the prestigious location next to the county governors office. Unfortunately, the emperor never came to Pingyao as planned, but construction was completed nonetheless. Yamen Property remains today a highly regarded historical site.
