Opened in June 2012, The Long Journey Backpackers' Lodge is set to become the most happening place to stay in Shangri-la. It is run by an avid backpacker for backpackers from all over the world. It features a tastefully decorated dormitory and 2 luxurious suites complete with sun roof, bath-tub and PC. Located just outside Shangri-la's old town, it is the ideal place for a good night's sleep. There is a nice veranda which offers panoramic views of the world's largest golden prayer wheel and the surrounding mountainscape. The cafe serves a wide range of delighting Chinese and Western food at very reasonable prices. The bar on the ground floor has a nice fireplace and features good music, movie-screening and a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The Long Journey Backpackers' Lodge offers 24h hot water, fiber-optic WiFi, free use of computers and is the only place in Shangri-la where international calls to landlines and mobiles via Skype is possible.
