i think Pousada Favelinha is the best place to exparience barazilian comunity about favela.(good staff,good neighborhood)
and you don't have to worry about safety.
if you come back to hostel on foot midnight alone,it's no problem.

We loved the idea of staying in the favela, but the family who lives they does not make you feel welcome, you are interupting their life. The cleanliness could improve. Everything feels moisture and a cockroach is the batch room is not clean.

Well-worth the experience,view is unbeatable. Overall recommended, but not for picky people. Landlady seems always a bit grumpy and not very attentive, but we never had a problem.

The only good thing going for this place is the view, which is amazing. However, this does not make up for the fact the hostel is impossible to find, and located in an area you dont feel safe walking at night!! or even during the day. My advice, stay at copacobana

People in the favela are really friendly if you respect them. It was a great experience to stay there. The view from the pousada is one of the best you can have in Rio. To move inside the favela is secure at every time (night and day).

This is a very nice place to stay long and it has a beautiful -VISTA- against -Sugar Loaf- and the city.

I stayed here two years ago and it is even better than before, i am impressed. I feel at home here and would always recommend it. The best change over the last year: Better showers, and the terrace with fence and new floor, and ne hammocks! Greetings to S
